The Graduation Projects review has taken place since 2002 and for six years it has been international in scope, and supported by the International Visegrad Fund. Any BA and MA projects defended in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia can be submitted, as can works by citizens of these countries living abroad. Awards are given to twenty 2D and twenty 3D projects.

“Force of Iron” is an interactive sound sculpture, waiting to be touched. The work represents a massive vibrating system of 144 rods and bells. Rods collide and each one vibrates at a slightly different frequency. Together they form a field of sound ruled by iron.

“HÜPE/HYPE”
A jump into fresh Estonian accessory design

Fresh and exciting materials as well as unexpected solutions are a product developed in Estonain Academy of Arts few months course. Among designers, there's a broad selection of disciplines, including leather, textile, jewelry, fashion, blacksmithing, ceramists and product designers. All of which gathered together for jump thru art and design. Exhibition launches young designers even higher and further. It is a push to realize your ideas and give them some form and shape, to create product that could afterwards take jump on its own.

"Firmament II" is the exhibition of the students of native metalwork of the University of Viljandi Culture Academy. Traditional forgings, jewellery and metal forms as well as objects in modern technologies are exhibited. Each object is as a star in the galaxy, moving on its reference point, whilst being part of a big firmament in the exposition.

Heliodesign: Sound Waves of Inner and Outer Territories (2016)

Charlotte Piene (b 1985, Norway) The sound floats like liquids and the vibration transfers it into your body. You share the sound, and the vibration tries to match the energy in your body. Everything has its own frequency and we harmonize or discord with it. Piene tries to combine the idea of the imaginary audible with social atmospheres, using sound, text, performance and drawing.

Designers have to find simple solutions to complex problems. In our data­oriented society we need computers to coordinate the chaos. Students learned to create and use scripts to generate seemingly chaotic geometry in a given bounding cube and make it buildable in freely chosen material.

We were inspired to design three­dimensional shadow that would create new spatial qualities. In the digital studio – Shadow/Proto – we investigated 3D modelling combined with laser cutting in order to execute them in local material – wood. Adding a light source, combining the 2D elements back to 3D we managed to recreate the initial aspiration – the shadow.

Heliodisain: Martin Rästa's sound installation "Sana Sancta"

The sound installation "Sana Sancta", consisting of wooden console, sound system, electronic user interface and different religious sounds, tries to find holiness in sound. Combining different sounds it is possible for the user to recognize the intersection of different religious sounds or on the contrary cause chaos.

Epp Lankots, Liina Siib, Tanel Veenre and Veronika Valk will discuss, whether the emerging field of practice-based research signals a shift of paradigm in research as such, and what opportunities lie in art, design and architecture practice turning from research material into research method. Heliodesign is shining again. The theme of the present Tallinn Design Festival is “Redefining Design” and Helios as the little brother of CultureHub concentrates on broadening limits – design should be a calculated process/object, the main goal of which is interaction, changing the perspective. Heliodesign is trying to break the existing frame into pieces and create an aggregate more significant.

“Force of Iron” is an interactive sound sculpture, waiting to be touched. The work represents a massive vibrating system of 144 rods and bells. Rods collide and each one vibrates at a slightly different frequency. Together they form a field of sound ruled by iron.

Charlotte Piene (b 1985, Norway) The sound floats like liquids and the vibration transfers it into your body. You share the sound, and the vibration tries to match the energy in your body. Everything has its own frequency and we harmonize or discord with it. Piene tries to combine the idea of the imaginary audible with social atmospheres, using sound, text, performance and drawing.

This year ́s poem edition is about becoming aware of your own perception of reality. "Firmament II" is the exhibition of the students of native metalwork of the University of Viljandi Culture Academy. Traditional forgings, jewellery and metal forms as well as objects in modern technologies are exhibited. Each object is as a star in the galaxy, moving on its reference point, whilst being part of a big firmament in the exposition.

Accessory exhibition in coolabration with Tali design shop
“HÜPE/HYPE”
A jump into fresh Estonian accessory design

Fresh and exciting materials as well as unexpected solutions are a product developed in Estonain Academy of Arts few months course. Among designers, there's a broad selection of disciplines, including leather, textile, jewelry, fashion, blacksmithing, ceramists and product designers. All of which gathered together for jump thru art and design. Exhibition launches young designers even higher and further. It is a push to realize your ideas and give them some form and shape, to create product that could afterwards take jump on its own.

The sound installation "Sana Sancta", consisting of wooden console, sound system, electronic user interface and different religious sounds, tries to find holiness in sound. Combining different sounds it is possible for the user to recognize the intersection of different religious sounds or on the contrary cause chaos.

Designers have to find simple solutions to complex problems. In our data­oriented society we need computers to coordinate the chaos. Students learned to create and use scripts to generate seemingly chaotic geometry in a given bounding cube and make it buildable in freely chosen material.

Visegrád Group Diploma theses

The Graduation Projects review has taken place since 2002 and for six years it has been international in scope, and supported by the International Visegrad Fund. Any BA and MA projects defended in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia can be submitted, as can works by citizens of these countries living abroad. Awards are given to twenty 2D and twenty 3D projects.

We were inspired to design three­dimensional shadow that would create new spatial qualities. In the digital studio – Shadow/Proto – we investigated 3D modelling combined with laser cutting in order to execute them in local material – wood. Adding a light source, combining the 2D elements back to 3D we managed to recreate the initial aspiration – the shadow.

Fresh and exciting materials as well as unexpected solutions are a product developed in Estonain Academy of Arts few months course. Among designers, there's a broad selection of disciplines, including leather, textile, jewelry, fashion, blacksmithing, ceramists and product designers. All of which gathered together for jump thru art and design. Exhibition launches young designers even higher and further. It is a push to realize your ideas and give them some form and shape, to create product that could afterwards take jump on its own.

Heliodisain: Martin Rästa's sound installation "Sana Sancta"

The sound installation "Sana Sancta", consisting of wooden console, sound system, electronic user interface and different religious sounds, tries to find holiness in sound. Combining different sounds it is possible for the user to recognize the intersection of different religious sounds or on the contrary cause chaos.

Designers have to find simple solutions to complex problems. In our data­oriented society we need computers to coordinate the chaos. Students learned to create and use scripts to generate seemingly chaotic geometry in a given bounding cube and make it buildable in freely chosen material.

Visegrád Group Diploma theses

The Graduation Projects review has taken place since 2002 and for six years it has been international in scope, and supported by the International Visegrad Fund. Any BA and MA projects defended in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia can be submitted, as can works by citizens of these countries living abroad. Awards are given to twenty 2D and twenty 3D projects.

We were inspired to design three­dimensional shadow that would create new spatial qualities. In the digital studio – Shadow/Proto – we investigated 3D modelling combined with laser cutting in order to execute them in local material – wood. Adding a light source, combining the 2D elements back to 3D we managed to recreate the initial aspiration – the shadow.

She makes her products following a circular system, in which the product is designed in a way that its details such as straps and pockets can be simply repaired and replaced and the material of the product reused for a new item.

The exhibition „Modern Finnish Poster“ under the aegis of Haapsalu Graphic Design Festival presents a review of the contemporary Finnish poster. There are 88 pieces from 31 authors in the collection. The exhibition was composed in cooperation with Estonian Graphic Designers Association, Finnish Institute and Lahti Poster Museum.

Heliodesign is shining again. The theme of the present Tallinn Design Festival is “Redefining Design” and Helios as the little brother of CultureHub concentrates on broadening limits – design should be a calculated process/object, the main goal of which is interaction, changing the perspective. Heliodesign is trying to break the existing frame into pieces and create an aggregate more significant.

Heliodesign: Force of iron

“Force of Iron” is an interactive sound sculpture, waiting to be touched. The work represents a massive vibrating system of 144 rods and bells. Rods collide and each one vibrates at a slightly different frequency. Together they form a field of sound ruled by iron.

Heliodesign: Sound Waves of Inner and Outer Territories (2016)

Charlotte Piene (b 1985, Norway) The sound floats like liquids and the vibration transfers it into your body. You share the sound, and the vibration tries to match the energy in your body. Everything has its own frequency and we harmonize or discord with it. Piene tries to combine the idea of the imaginary audible with social atmospheres, using sound, text, performance and drawing.

What is real and what is only a projection of your own mind? Colour Emotions, a poem edition curated by Sara Garanty, tries to find answers. This year ́s poem edition is about becoming aware of your own perception of reality. Our mind is often perceived as something static, instead of its true being a state of constant and continuous change.

"Firmament II" is the exhibition of the students of native metalwork of the University of Viljandi Culture Academy. Traditional forgings, jewellery and metal forms as well as objects in modern technologies are exhibited. Each object is as a star in the galaxy, moving on its reference point, whilst being part of a big firmament in the exposition.

Accessory exhibition in coolabration with Tali design shop
“HÜPE/HYPE”
A jump into fresh Estonian accessory design

Fresh and exciting materials as well as unexpected solutions are a product developed in Estonain Academy of Arts few months course. Among designers, there's a broad selection of disciplines, including leather, textile, jewelry, fashion, blacksmithing, ceramists and product designers. All of which gathered together for jump thru art and design. Exhibition launches young designers even higher and further. It is a push to realize your ideas and give them some form and shape, to create product that could afterwards take jump on its own.

Heliodisain: Martin Rästa's sound installation "Sana Sancta"

The sound installation "Sana Sancta", consisting of wooden console, sound system, electronic user interface and different religious sounds, tries to find holiness in sound. Combining different sounds it is possible for the user to recognize the intersection of different religious sounds or on the contrary cause chaos.

Designers have to find simple solutions to complex problems. In our data­oriented society we need computers to coordinate the chaos. Students learned to create and use scripts to generate seemingly chaotic geometry in a given bounding cube and make it buildable in freely chosen material.

Visegrád Group Diploma theses

The Graduation Projects review has taken place since 2002 and for six years it has been international in scope, and supported by the International Visegrad Fund. Any BA and MA projects defended in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia can be submitted, as can works by citizens of these countries living abroad. Awards are given to twenty 2D and twenty 3D projects.

We were inspired to design three­dimensional shadow that would create new spatial qualities. In the digital studio – Shadow/Proto – we investigated 3D modelling combined with laser cutting in order to execute them in local material – wood. Adding a light source, combining the 2D elements back to 3D we managed to recreate the initial aspiration – the shadow.

Well­known Austrian jewellery designer and sculptor Peter Skubic (1935) exposes installations inspired by geometrical forms and reflections. Skubic prefers big scale, impelling forms, steel and metal. The designer is inspired by reflection – a reality that does not exist. Curators Kadri Mälk, Tanel Veenre, designer Nils Hint.

ReDesigning Lahti City urbanization, digitalization and industrial transformation. Lahti started developing its image and entrepreneurship platform. Lahti presents new Waterfront area, Marketplace Parking Garage and Travel Centre as references of urban design. In turn, old industrial buildings have been refurbished as versatile commercial and cultural facilities.

Stella Soomlais’s exhibition ‘’Bag Tasting’’ is a maze of senses linking the visual to the cognitive and giving the observer an opportunity to get an actual taste of Stella Soomlais's creation. Stella is a maker of hand­crafted leather bags and accessories. She makes her products following a circular system, in which the product is designed in a way that its details such as straps and pockets can be simply repaired and replaced and the material of the product reused for a new item.

Johanna Tammsalu is a young designer from Tallinn, Estonia where she recently started her design company called TAMMA DESIGN that is in constant search for the hidden potential of everyday objects, from high­tech climbing ropes to shoes, dishes and lightbulbs. Vicious Circle is a cooperation project between designers Raili Keiv (EST) and Hanna Dis Whitehead (ISL). Their starting point is circle as a geometric form, taken to different outputs. For the first time in the history of Tallinn Design Festival the people in love with design can come and walk along Design Street (15.­18.09) at Kultuurikatel and make a stop at the Fashion Cross (17.­18.09). The theme of the present Tallinn Design Festival is “Redefining Design” and Helios as the little brother of CultureHub concentrates on broadening limits – design should be a calculated process/object, the main goal of which is interaction, changing the perspective. “Force of Iron” is an interactive sound sculpture, waiting to be touched. The work represents a massive vibrating system of 144 rods and bells. Rods collide and each one vibrates at a slightly different frequency. Together they form a field of sound ruled by iron.

Charlotte Piene (b 1985, Norway) The sound floats like liquids and the vibration transfers it into your body. You share the sound, and the vibration tries to match the energy in your body. Everything has its own frequency and we harmonize or discord with it. Piene tries to combine the idea of the imaginary audible with social atmospheres, using sound, text, performance and drawing.

A jump into fresh Estonian accessory design

Fresh and exciting materials as well as unexpected solutions are a product developed in Estonain Academy of Arts few months course. Among designers, there's a broad selection of disciplines, including leather, textile, jewelry, fashion, blacksmithing, ceramists and product designers. All of which gathered together for jump thru art and design. Exhibition launches young designers even higher and further. It is a push to realize your ideas and give them some form and shape, to create product that could afterwards take jump on its own.

The sound installation "Sana Sancta", consisting of wooden console, sound system, electronic user interface and different religious sounds, tries to find holiness in sound. The Graduation Projects review has taken place since 2002 and for six years it has been international in scope, and supported by the International Visegrad Fund. Any BA and MA projects defended in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia can be submitted, as can works by citizens of these countries living abroad. Awards are given to twenty 2D and twenty 3D projects.

We were inspired to design three­dimensional shadow that would create new spatial qualities. In the digital studio – Shadow/Proto – we investigated 3D modelling combined with laser cutting in order to execute them in local material – wood. Adding a light source, combining the 2D elements back to 3D we managed to recreate the initial aspiration – the shadow.

Stella Soomlais’s exhibition ‘’Bag Tasting’’ is a maze of senses linking the visual to the cognitive and giving the observer an opportunity to get an actual taste of Stella Soomlais's creation. Woods and the Sea: Estonian Design and the Virtual Frontier is an evocative documentary­style art book and authoritative view of a vibrant creative community edited by journalist and design writer Michael Dumiak and published by London­based culture imprint Black Dog. The narrative which is written on the bases of ca 25 interviews is portrait of Estonia’s rich design fabric, with featured designers such as the sage Bruno Tomberg and fashion rebel Reet Aus, is placed in context with essays exploring both the history and future of Estonian design.

For the first time in the history of Tallinn Design Festival the people in love with design can come and walk along Design Street (15.­18.09) at Kultuurikatel and make a stop at the Fashion Cross (17.­18.09). Neither car nor driving licence will be needed, a hulking wallet would just do. The design objects by more than 25 teams from Estonia and abroad will exhibit their design.

Heliodesign is shining again. The theme of the present Tallinn Design Festival is “Redefining Design” and Helios as the little brother of CultureHub concentrates on broadening limits – design should be a calculated process/object, the main goal of which is interaction, changing the perspective. Heliodesign is trying to break the existing frame into pieces and create an aggregate more significant.

“Force of Iron” is an interactive sound sculpture, waiting to be touched. The work represents a massive vibrating system of 144 rods and bells. Rods collide and each one vibrates at a slightly different frequency. Together they form a field of sound ruled by iron.

Charlotte Piene (b 1985, Norway) The sound floats like liquids and the vibration transfers it into your body. You share the sound, and the vibration tries to match the energy in your body. Everything has its own frequency and we harmonize or discord with it. Piene tries to combine the idea of the imaginary audible with social atmospheres, using sound, text, performance and drawing.

"Firmament II" is the exhibition of the students of native metalwork of the University of Viljandi Culture Academy. Traditional forgings, jewellery and metal forms as well as objects in modern technologies are exhibited. Each object is as a star in the galaxy, moving on its reference point, whilst being part of a big firmament in the exposition.

“HÜPE/HYPE”
A jump into fresh Estonian accessory design

Fresh and exciting materials as well as unexpected solutions are a product developed in Estonain Academy of Arts few months course. Among designers, there's a broad selection of disciplines, including leather, textile, jewelry, fashion, blacksmithing, ceramists and product designers. All of which gathered together for jump thru art and design. Exhibition launches young designers even higher and further. It is a push to realize your ideas and give them some form and shape, to create product that could afterwards take jump on its own.

The sound installation "Sana Sancta", consisting of wooden console, sound system, electronic user interface and different religious sounds, tries to find holiness in sound. Combining different sounds it is possible for the user to recognize the intersection of different religious sounds or on the contrary cause chaos.

Designers have to find simple solutions to complex problems. In our data­oriented society we need computers to coordinate the chaos. Students learned to create and use scripts to generate seemingly chaotic geometry in a given bounding cube and make it buildable in freely chosen material.

Visegrád Group Diploma theses

The Graduation Projects review has taken place since 2002 and for six years it has been international in scope, and supported by the International Visegrad Fund. Any BA and MA projects defended in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia can be submitted, as can works by citizens of these countries living abroad. Awards are given to twenty 2D and twenty 3D projects.

We were inspired to design three­dimensional shadow that would create new spatial qualities. In the digital studio – Shadow/Proto – we investigated 3D modelling combined with laser cutting in order to execute them in local material – wood. Adding a light source, combining the 2D elements back to 3D we managed to recreate the initial aspiration – the shadow.

Well­known Austrian jewellery designer and sculptor Peter Skubic (1935) exposes installations inspired by geometrical forms and reflections. Skubic prefers big scale, impelling forms, steel and metal. The designer is inspired by reflection – a reality that does not exist. Curators Kadri Mälk, Tanel Veenre, designer Nils Hint.

ReDesigning Lahti City urbanization, digitalization and industrial transformation. Lahti started developing its image and entrepreneurship platform. Lahti presents new Waterfront area, Marketplace Parking Garage and Travel Centre as references of urban design. Stella Soomlais’s exhibition ‘’Bag Tasting’’ is a maze of senses linking the visual to the cognitive and giving the observer an opportunity to get an actual taste of Stella Soomlais's creation. Stella is a maker of hand­crafted leather bags and accessories. She makes her products following a circular system, in which the product is designed in a way that its details such as straps and pockets can be simply repaired and replaced and the material of the product reused for a new item.

Johanna Tammsalu is a young designer from Tallinn, Estonia where she recently started her design company called TAMMA DESIGN that is in constant search for the hidden potential of everyday objects, from high­tech climbing ropes to shoes, dishes and lightbulbs. Vicious Circle is a cooperation project between designers Raili Keiv (EST) and Hanna Dis Whitehead (ISL). Their starting point is circle as a geometric form, taken to different outputs. The theme of the present Tallinn Design Festival is “Redefining Design” and Helios as the little brother of CultureHub concentrates on broadening limits – design should be a calculated process/object, the main goal of which is interaction, changing the perspective. Heliodesign is trying to break the existing frame into pieces and create an aggregate more significant.

“Force of Iron” is an interactive sound sculpture, waiting to be touched. The work represents a massive vibrating system of 144 rods and bells. Rods collide and each one vibrates at a slightly different frequency. Together they form a field of sound ruled by iron.

Heliodesign: Sound Waves of Inner and Outer Territories (2016)

Charlotte Piene (b 1985, Norway) The sound floats like liquids and the vibration transfers it into your body. You share the sound, and the vibration tries to match the energy in your body. Everything has its own frequency and we harmonize or discord with it. Piene tries to combine the idea of the imaginary audible with social atmospheres, using sound, text, performance and drawing.

What is real and what is only a projection of your own mind? Colour Emotions, a poem edition curated by Sara Garanty, tries to find answers. This year ́s poem edition is about becoming aware of your own perception of reality. Our mind is often perceived as something static, instead of its true being a state of constant and continuous change.

"Firmament II" is the exhibition of the students of native metalwork of the University of Viljandi Culture Academy. Traditional forgings, jewellery and metal forms as well as objects in modern technologies are exhibited. Each object is as a star in the galaxy, moving on its reference point, whilst being part of a big firmament in the exposition.

“HÜPE/HYPE”
A jump into fresh Estonian accessory design

Fresh and exciting materials as well as unexpected solutions are a product developed in Estonain Academy of Arts few months course. Among designers, there's a broad selection of disciplines, including leather, textile, jewelry, fashion, blacksmithing, ceramists and product designers. All of which gathered together for jump thru art and design. Exhibition launches young designers even higher and further. It is a push to realize your ideas and give them some form and shape, to create product that could afterwards take jump on its own.

The sound installation "Sana Sancta", consisting of wooden console, sound system, electronic user interface and different religious sounds, tries to find holiness in sound. Combining different sounds it is possible for the user to recognize the intersection of different religious sounds or on the contrary cause chaos.

Designers have to find simple solutions to complex problems. In our data­oriented society we need computers to coordinate the chaos. Students learned to create and use scripts to generate seemingly chaotic geometry in a given bounding cube and make it buildable in freely chosen material.

Visegrád Group Diploma theses

The Graduation Projects review has taken place since 2002 and for six years it has been international in scope, and supported by the International Visegrad Fund. Any BA and MA projects defended in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia can be submitted, as can works by citizens of these countries living abroad. Awards are given to twenty 2D and twenty 3D projects.

We were inspired to design three­dimensional shadow that would create new spatial qualities. In the digital studio – Shadow/Proto – we investigated 3D modelling combined with laser cutting in order to execute them in local material – wood. Adding a light source, combining the 2D elements back to 3D we managed to recreate the initial aspiration – the shadow.

Well­known Austrian jewellery designer and sculptor Peter Skubic (1935) exposes installations inspired by geometrical forms and reflections. Skubic prefers big scale, impelling forms, steel and metal. The designer is inspired by reflection – a reality that does not exist. Curators Kadri Mälk, Tanel Veenre, designer Nils Hint.

ReDesigning Lahti City urbanization, digitalization and industrial transformation. Lahti started developing its image and entrepreneurship platform. Lahti presents new Waterfront area, Marketplace Parking Garage and Travel Centre as references of urban design. Stella Soomlais’s exhibition ‘’Bag Tasting’’ is a maze of senses linking the visual to the cognitive and giving the observer an opportunity to get an actual taste of Stella Soomlais's creation. Stella is a maker of hand­crafted leather bags and accessories. She makes her products following a circular system, in which the product is designed in a way that its details such as straps and pockets can be simply repaired and replaced and the material of the product reused for a new item.

Johanna Tammsalu is a young designer from Tallinn, Estonia where she recently started her design company called TAMMA DESIGN that is in constant search for the hidden potential of everyday objects, from high­tech climbing ropes to shoes, dishes and lightbulbs. Vicious Circle is a cooperation project between designers Raili Keiv (EST) and Hanna Dis Whitehead (ISL). Their starting point is circle as a geometric form, taken to different outputs.
